Elementary

Our Elementary School ministers to the Mind, Body, and Spirit of students from Kindergarten through 6th Grade. We strive to create an atmosphere that is condusive to learning and building friendships.

ACA takes pride in having a strong educational foundation and academic excellence for future learning.

At ACA we teach the standards of learning designed by the Commonwealth of VA Board of Education.

We teach these standards by using the following curriculum;

Abeka Science, Social Studies and Language
Word Study for Spelling
Scott Foresman Math
Reading is taught by using real novels which differ at grade levels 3-5
    K-2 uses the guided reading program
    K-5 also have access to Accelerated Reader, which is a computerized supplementary reading program.
    Teachers also use Reading A to Z - which is an online teacher resource with access to thousands of leveled reading, vocabulary and comprehension materials.
Keyboarding is taught using the NEO 2 Alpha Smart Computers
Writing is taught through the 6+1 Traits of writing

As students in our Elementary School, your children will particpate in extra class activities such as weekly Chapels, music, stretch n grow, Spanish class, art class, and other fun leanring activities.
